Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay, Celebrates 90 Years of Public Service

Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay has been helping people in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties in California since it’s establishment in 1919. In February of 2009, they celebrated their 80th anniversary.

“Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is very proud to have reached this milestone in our history of having helped those facing barriers to employment for 90 years.  Over these years, we helped more than 100,000 of our community members in need,” said John B. Latchford, President & CEO.

He continued to say that “While 2009 poses challenges to the agency as demand for services is rising while funding resources are dwindling, we are confident that Goodwill will continue to be a leader in workforce development. Our 90 years of success at helping the community, even through tough economic periods, not only beckons us to reflect on our accomplishments but gives us the confidence to look toward the future and ensure that we are meeting the community’s needs for the next 90 years.”

According to Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay’s website, ninety-three cents of every dollar donated to them goes back into helping people in the community. If you have ever donated something to Goodwill Industries then you have contributed to the massive success of the charity. However, to reach funding levels like the twenty million dollars recently raised over a year, Goodwill will need bigger donations – such as a car or truck.

Donating your car can give you a break on your taxes. You will also help someone in need. Your car will either be sold to raise money for Goodwill Industries many projects, or it will be sold at a discount price to a person in need of cheap, reliable transport. Any way you look at it, donating your car to Goodwill Industries is a positive move. Charity Dispatch can help you donate to any Goodwill Industries location around the country.
