My friend recently just purchased an old hearse. It is the coolest car ever. The only problem is it doesn’t even run because it needs some new parts for the engine. My friend has a job and works a lot of hours, but it’s minimum wage. It’s going to take him a real long time to be able to just get his car running and even longer to make it nice. I want to help him out.
Is it legal to use a fundraising service such as abcfundraising.com and sell cookie dough or something door to door as long as I am honest and tell people what the fundraiser is for? Or can I just put a charity donation box somewhere as long as it says on there it’s to help somebody fix up a car? Any other ideas? I’m not trying to run a scam or anything, I’d want to be upfront about any fundraising operations.

What you propose is perfectly legal and you are a great friend. Now most folks are accustomed to donating to nationally known charities but you might raise some locally out of cheer audacity. Best of luck!
