Car Donations in California

I know they want to help the environment, but wouldn’t it make more sense to donate the cars to poor families or sick people who need to get to doctor’s appointments? If the the government gave all the cars to some sort of charity, they could auction them off and use the cash to further help their cause. Not only are people buying fuel efficient cars but the old ones are being put to good use rather than ending up in land fills for years on end. Doesn’t that make more sense?
I do see the point of getting the old cars off the road but poor people couldn’t afford a new car anyway even with a $4500, and they woul have had to have owned it for at least a year.

I, mean naturally aspirated engines. I know the WRX STi or Evo, but I mean an affordable performance car. Something that’s good on gas and insurance, but has performance.

Acura has a CSX which is similar to the civic but it is not available in the us. I would like to know why. That car would be a great cross between luxury and economy for me.

I sold my used car to a buyer yesterday and I realized when I got home that the copy of my bill of sales and my insurance cards were missing. I believe the buyer took them while I was removing my things from the car.

In fact everything was very fishy…the car is not worth that much and right now I wished I donated the car instead. I am dead worry about what would happen if the buyer never register the car. It seems I cant do anything about it as I have no proof whatsoever the car was sold. And I wonder why would he take my insurance card…

I know I made a lot of mistakes…gosh. In fact, I never requested to see his ID. In the future, I will never let this happen again. I wanted to sell my car quick and without hassle..instead I got so many worries. The buyer has not returned my calls at all. I want to report the car stolen…but it seems I cant even do that anymore, I want to request a new title, but cant do that either.

What should I do?
How I can report the sale?? I asked DMV and they told me I could only return the plates…which will mean the car is not registered anymore. But I will still be owner until the car is re-registered.

Do i have to go the police precinct?
No..the important thing is that I am not liable for tickets or accidents if the buyer never registers the car.

As I said the amount paid for the car was minimal. Should have giving it to charity..

im getting a car soon, and i want a stick shift, but most stick shifts are 2-door cars which count as sports cars…but the mitsubishi evo/lancer 7 and 8 are 4-door cars, and i need help knowing if they count as sports cars because i dont want to pay that much for insurance.

This person would be willing to trade in their car for me to get the $4500 rebate towards buying a new car. So according to the CARS program, the person the clunker is registered to must buy the new car. Since the car would be for me and I want to pay for it, would this work? Is it possible for him just to transfer the loan over to my name?
great Bubba, but I need to know about transferring a loan. For instance, if my uncle buys a car through cash for clunkers and then immediately wants to transfer the title and loan over to me, would that work?

Hmm now that the facts are in, General Motors does not seem to be in the top 10. Toyota is #1.

I bought a new Toyota Venza AWD with my $4,600. Yes it is made in America, by non union workers, designed in Japan and the engine & transmission is built in Japan.

OK Poindexter, if all of a sudden Toyota is an “American” car just because it was built here, then why did Barry purchase GM and the taxpayers funded it?? Hmm??

I don’t see Toyota asking for handouts, they just build better cars and sell more of them.
