I’ve always felt that the tithe goes largely to funding the church. The parishioners use the church facilities so it should be financed by the congregation. I wouldn’t call this charity, but that’s what many Christians consider their tithe to be. What do you think?

I am the Secretary of my school’s Student Council. Every year, we have a charity drive. This year, we have selected a charity called Camp Heartland, allowing children with HIV/AIDS and a sibling to go to summer camp. This is one of the only opportunities these children have to be with people who understand their pain. They feel they do not have to hide their illnesses. At Camp Heartland, they can be free.
Does anyone know of businesses that would be willing to donate money or even match our donation? If so, please pass along contact information. Thank you so much!
Receipt for donation to American Diabetes Association for tax filing?

I made a donation online to the American Diabetes Association during their Tour de Cure 2009 event. I printed out a confirmation at time time and I still have that. Are they supposed to provide me a more formal receipt for filing my tax return, or is the confirmation sufficient as proof? The confirmation does have the date, amount, tracking code and ADA’s tax ID.

Can I just say “I bequeath 5% of my estate to…” or do I need to include specific information, like that organization’s tax ID, 501(c)(3) status, etc.?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
