I made a donation of 300$…it was tax deductible and they gave me recipts to fill out and turn in when i do my taxes…what will i get back…will i get back everything i donated?? just curious and i’ve been wondering how that worked for a long time! thanks!

I’m extremely happy with my American manufactured Big 3 car and I sneer at the foreign cars that I see. Doesn’t that make me more of a patriot than those turncoat foreign car owners?

Would it be wrong for me to buy a lot of things? I would DEFINITELY share my money. I would donate to charity, I also have this idea where I’d go to homes that have been burned down by household fires and then just drop $20,000 in the mail box.
See? I wouldn’t be greedy with my money, BUT, i like toys, and i want to have a basketball court in my house (and a pool, and i want a motorcycle too, also a nice car, and have a wardrobe with my fav tshirts).
God said to not store up earthly treasures, but if i get the money why can’t i use it to have fun too?
(O yea, i also want a shoe collection, AND a nice sound system so i can play guitar really loud.)

Some people strongly disagree with “global warming” but I agree that our environment is in trouble, I know that just a few simple changes per person can protect future generations. So I am curious if you have made any changes.
This is what I have done:
-I have better insulated my house
result.. immediate comfort
-prior to anyone making a movie about it LowE energy effecient windows result … cool in the summer/warm in the winter
-Recycling is manadotory in my city I have made a stronger effort to recycle and reuse more. result less junk in landfills
-I am slowly switching to the new lightbulbs they are talking about, result, I think they speak for themselves!
-I donate all my old clothes to charity.. which doesnt really have anything to do with the environment, but its still less stuff sitting in a landfill.
-When going to anywhere where my car will be parked a bank drive through, I turn the engine off.
There is still so much more I could do but I am trying!

I made $50,000 this year. About $7,500 has been witheld from my check for FED… My wife started for Aflac very late in the year and has made roughly $3,000. We married in June. Working for Aflac is considered having your own business.. She works on commission and we have quite a few deductibles, well what i’m hoping we can use as deductibles. Like gas, work supplies, car maintenance, and donations…. We’ve been keeping some money from her pay for taxes but not so much.
Is there a certain amount of money to make before the government starts taking taxes?
Can you file jointly if the spouse has their own business?
If i have the option would it be better to file together or seperate?
Any advice would be great. I know i need an accountant, but would like to know alittle more about this, instead of walking blindly….

How can we be expected to buy American cars when foreign cars are cheaper, provide better gas mileage, and offer better features? How can people expect us to not seek foreign made vehicles when they are clearly the more cost effective alternative?
Should we buy American made cars just to support the American auto companies?

I have already made up my mind about which car I want (a Chevy Prizm), but what if I can’t find one in my area? What if there is an alternative car that just happens to be as fuel efficient as this one, but it happens to be foreign made. Should I all just get a car (or truck, or etc.) that I can afford

Ok, so, there’s a 19 year old girl who made $11,900 during 2009 (not much at all). She supported her mother and her little sister. The mother had to separate from her abusive husband at the beginning of 2009, and the husband eventually got deported.
Anyway, the mother has only worked cleaning out trailers in a trailer park for RENT CREDIT, so it’s not like she can count a small income on her part.
They don’t have car payments because they don’t have a car, hence…no car insurance. The only thing the working daughter really pays is rent ($435 per month) and food and electricity. Some of this family’s friends have donated food to them plus given a $20 bill here and there as a gift donation to help them out.
So, if the IRS sees that this girl made $11,900 and is claiming her mom and her sister, do you think they will ask for proof that the daughter did, in fact, support her 2 family members? What sort of proof would they ask for?
Mind you….. there’s nothing to hide here. No lies are being told. This is the plain truth of what is happening. If the working daughter is audited, she will be willing to proof whatever she needs to prove. She just wants to be prepared.

Definitely I Used to drive a crhysler car (dodge 400) that end up in the junk yard. after that car I had a Mustang same thing I have to sell it to the Junk yard, ten i got a Cadillac Catera, and I’m no lying the car was beautifull but It was anothe piece of junk I end up Donating the car because it spend more time in the shop than in the road, Volkswagen its anothe piece of precious junk, after the last car (cadillac catera) a friend sold me his car a toyota civic 91 the car really lasted my for more than 9 years with the minimum maintenance and still I sold it for 1000 dlls because I just bought a Toyota Rav4. definitely I think that the american car makers should start putting more attention to the releability of their cars and more gas efficient, instead of just big and nice.

Can cash for clunkers only be used to buy an American made car? How do they determine the amount you receive for your used car? I have a 1996 Volkswagen Cabrio that still runs great and has 130 k.
Why doesn’t it qualify?
