I have a brother who left his car with me after being stationed in the Germany for 3 years. He no longer wants his car and wants to donate it to me. How would we transfer ownership and title being that he is now in Germany? The car was originally registered in North Carolina and is now in Louisiana. Insurance and inpection have since expired.
The previous owner of my car died before giving me the title. How can i get the title without his help?

Purchased the car 5 months ago. Previous owner misplaced the title. Paid him for the car, but before he filed for a duplicate title, he had a stroke and died. Now I’ve been stuck with a car that I cant register, insure, drive, sell, scrap, or donate. Expensive driveway ornament.

I have a vehicle thats just sitting that I purchased for my brother. I t has a remaining $150 to pay off and it has a lien on it. The car broke down after 3 months of use (granted it’s a cheap 1,000 car) and I want to donate it so i can get rid of it since it’s just sitting and collecting dirt. I have tried to contact the seller and they since have gone out of business and I cant contact the guy that sold the vehicle. How do I find out where to pay off the lien so I can get full ownership of the title so I can get rid of the darn thing.
I am on the regitration as partial lien holder
Car was charged off on my credit for $1166.00 in 2003. Can I donate to charity without clear title.?

We have signed over the title to our clunker, the dealer has cashed our check and we have received the first bill for our loan to finance vehicle. Dealer has given us the new vehicle and all paperwork except for an MSO which is the paper we need in order to title our vehicle in our name. We believe that vehicle is ours and they have no right to withhold the title. They say they will hold the title until they get their money from the government.
How do I get a title for a car I bought in an auction and the previous owner didn’t have it.?

I recently obtained a car from a close friend of mine free of charge. Unfortunately, the car has no title. Her grandfather purchased the car from a Charity Auction in California around a year ago and gave it to her to drive. She didn’t want the car and since my car recently quit, I was in a pinch. I’m not sure if the state I live in matters, but just in case, it’s Tennessee. The car is an ‘84 Toyota Tercel Station Wagon.

Hi I found a good used car and am planning to buy for my wife. She dont have drivers licence yet , but she is going to get in next year January. Meanwhile, can we buy that car and get the title for that Car? and can we also get the registration paper work done without drivers licence….? Or atleast she can own the car for now..? and she will drive from January after registration

Hello all,
My father just passed away about a month ago. My mother is still alive. Both my mother and my father’s names are on the title of their car.
The car is fully paid off. My mother does not drive at all. She lives in Washington state and I live in Florida. She wants to give the car to me so that I can either sell it or donate it to a charitable organization (who will in turn use the car for their business) so that I can write it of on my taxes this year.
My mother is not comfortable selling the car on her own, so we think that donating it would yield the most money for the car and would also be simple for her to handle.
My question is, do I need to be present at the DMV in Washington state in order for her to either put my name on the title of the car so that I can donate it (from Florida) to a party in Washington state? Or does my mom need to sell it to me in order for my name to be placed on the title?

I purchased a car from a vehicle donation program, the program is under investigation with the attorney general ..the vehicle was sold to me with a regular title …which the program got with a mechanics lean..the ny motor vehicle made me go for an inspection and they are demanding recicpts for the parts which I cannot supply because of the court case,,,..do I have to go for a ny salvaged title inspection when the vehicle already had one in another state ??the dmv in ny is available mon thru thurs with this service

I paid off my car 4 years ago, but I never got around to requesting the title from the leinholder. Now, I need to sell or donate my car before the end of March. How can I get the title if I can’t find any of the related paperwork that was sent to me?

I’ve paid off my vehicle. Woo hoo! I wrote a letter to the lienholder and received a notarized “lien release statement”. Then I wrote to my County Tax Assessor-Collector, who sent me an “Application for Certificate of Title” that I need to turn in with a check for $30.
But the application looks like something you’d fill out when you’re selling, trading in or donating your vehicle. I don’t want to do any of that yet – I just want to have the title in my name for when I do get rid of the car in the next 12 months.
Anyone have any experience (preferably in Texas) in transferring vehicle titles? Thanks.
